Simulation Fails During Mesh Generation for Aerodynamics Analysis

Hello

I am working on a simulation project involving external aerodynamics for a car model. During the mesh generation step; the process fails with an error message indicating “Mesh refinement unsuccessful.” :upside_down_face:

Here are the project details:

-Simulation Type: Incompressible airflow

-Mesh Settings: Automatic with fine refinements

-Geometry: Imported STL file, cleaned using SimScale’s CAD tools

I have double-checked the geometry for errors & ensured it is watertight, but the issue persists. Could this be related to the complexity of the geometry or the chosen meshing parameters? :upside_down_face: I have checked Project Support - SimScale CAE Forum mongodb guide for reference but still need advice .

Any advice or steps to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @segidas thanks for posting on the Forum and welcome to the SimScale Community :handshake:

Could you please share your project’s URL so we can take a closer look? Here’s a guide on how to do that: Guide to Clear and Understandable Forum Posting

As a general note, however, we usually ask users to avoid using STL files for simulation using the Incompressible solver, as the faceted geometry often contains self-intersections or the facet-splitting isn’t 100% successful and a few of the facets are still mantained.

Could you try exporting your geometry as STEP or Parasolid instead?

Cheers
