Hello! I am a first-time SimScale user working on a project for a research paper. I am working on a model with screw-based fixtures. When I attempt to run the simulation, I receive the error “The rotation axis of a Cylindrical hinge constraint could not be detected. Please try defining the rotation axis manually via Axis definition > Custom.” I have gone and defined the axes manually but am still receiving this error. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? Thank you in advance!
Let me know if you would like to have the project shared!

Hi,
Thank you for posting on the forum!
We will take a look and get back to you soon
Hi @youngriley, sorry for the very late reply here!
I’ve taken a look at your project and I have a few comments to make (as I’m not sure of the privacy of your project, I won’t share screenshots). At first, I think it would be worth it taking a read at some documentation pages to make a quick start to the SimScale platform:
I see that you’ve defined a pin connector:
Also, you’ve defined a bonded contact to parts that are both fixed and rotating:
Also, the axis of your hinge constraint seems dislocated from the one it’s supposed to be restricted to:
I also think you’d benefit a lot from our introductory tutorials, specially these ones, which are static like your case:
Best,
Igor
