I have not used simscale in a few months. In that time they seem to have introduced a new feature to meshing refinements. I can either do what I used to which is set a minimum cell size or I can select a fineness from 1 to 10. The new way of sizing mesh seems a lot easier and I would like to switch to that so I was wondering how the two correlate so I can achieve a similar fineness on the new system.
Hi @cyrus_costa, thanks for posting on the forum
The equivalent setting would look like this for the old “Local Element Size”:
And like this for the “Region refinement”:
Basically,
- Set the sizing to “custom”
- Set the value for “Default size” as you would “Maximum edge lenght”
Cheers

Yes I understand that part but if I wanted to switch to the automatic sizing is there a way to find equivalent sizes. Sorry if I was not clear on my first post.
The automatic sizing takes into account a series of factors, including overall domain size and other aspects, so there’s not a readily available correlation, I’m afraid.
All in all, automatic sizing is more general (thus it is the default setting) but gives you less control than a “custom” definition…
