Material phasing through itself

I was trying to simulate compliant pliers bending, so far I’ve managed to fix the bottom part and move down the top one as you can see in the attached image, but when the force is applied, the moving part goes through the part the red arrow points to.


As shown in the image above, I chose “Dynamic” for the structure in the settings instead of “Static” which might have been more suitable.
Is there any way to avoid the material phasing through itself?

This is likely related to the physical contact method. For a penalty method physical contact, the interpenetration between colliding faces is penalized (thus the name of the method), which means that there will always be some level of interpenetration.

You might want to try to increase the penalty coefficient to reduce the interpenetration. Note that this may cause the simulation to be more unstable.
