I am trying to simulate the pre-compressed seal state inside seal cavity. seal size is higher than cavity size only at specific locations which act as retainer of the seal. This is typicaly a squeeze fit kind of problem. If the overlap is uniform I can use fitctitious clearance to bring the overlaping contact to active state. But with overlap only at specific locations, how should I model this?. Need support.
I believe you should still be able to use fictitious clearance even if the overlap is not uniform, depending of course how much non-uniform it is.
For instance, you can split the contact region into multiple faces and thus create multiple contacts. You can then try assigning different fictitious clearances to different contacts depending on the non-uniformity of the interference.
