Flow volume creation failed

Hi

Very new to both CAD and SimScale. I’m trying to model airflow through a velocity stack. I can’t manage to generate an internal flow volume. I thought I had selected the two boundary faces appropriately. I’ve checked for gaps, and there don’t seem to be any in my model. Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated!

Very happy to share my project with anyone :-).

Thank you!

Hey jakob_bm,

Thanks for posting on the forum.

This part (image below) of your geometry seems to be not connected properly. This in turn, affects the parabolically tapered surface (hidden in image) connected to this.

This would be easier for you to resolve in your CAD tool and reimport into SimScale.

Please refer to this article for more information about CAD faults and best practices to keep in mind during modeling of a geometry!

Let us know how it works out for you!

Thanks! I’ll play with that a bit more!

So I’ve managed to successfully model inside the body of the trumpet!

However, once I worked out that I needed to save the model with the internal flow volume, I still get this error when trying to run the simulation.

Any further wisdom to offer? Thanks again!

Hi @jakob_bm,

This message appears because you have more than one body in your simulation setup. If you’re trying to run an incompressible analysis, you need to have only one body as a flow region (which is the portion of your system where the fluid will be).

For reference, take a look at this portion of one of our basic tutorials:
