Flat face selected, rotation not detected

Hello,

I am new to Simscale and still learning my way around setting up an FEA. I imported a CAD and set the boundary conditions. I am trying to track the mechanical displacement of the top parts in the image attached but I keep getting the error “Flat face selected, rotation not detected.” Can someone help out?

Hi @bubeh, thanks for posting on the Forum and welcome to the SimScale Community :handshake:

How have you been enjoying the platform so far?

This might have to do with the wrong assignment of the rotational axis, but we’d need to further inspect to be sure. Could you share your project with support and post a link to it here?

Best,
Igor

Hello Igor,

Thanks for reaching out. I just shared my project using the email support@simscale.com

I look forward to a response

@bubeh,

We don’t have access to the projects shared with the support email. Could you share it with support instead and post the link here? You just need to copy the browser’s URL to do that!

Here’s how to share with support:

Igor

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the guide. I just shared it with support now and below is the link to the project.

@bubeh,

Thanks for sharing! Taking a closer look, I think it might be due to you defining pin connectors to flat faces. These are only used to stablish a connection between parts with concentric holes.

For more information, take a look at the documentation for connectors:
