I’m currently working on a simulation that involves sliding contact, and I would like to include friction in my analysis(harmonic). Could someone guide me on how to define frictional contact in SimScale(harmonic), or if there’s an option to include friction in sliding contact? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.
What @sgundu means is , in the scenario shown in the image attached, how do we define the BOUNDARY CONDITION between interface of the objects? Currently in Simscale , we are doing “Sliding” , but I don’t think this is right.
On the other-hand, in ANSYS, there is option called “Frictional” contact, where we define the friction coefficient, but how do we translate this into Simscale?
As Frequency/Harmonic analysis are always linear, physical contacts (which are non-linear) cannot be applied. However, if you go for a Dynamic analysis instead, you’d be able to apply the same sorts of loads used in an harmonic study and use physical contacts (those allow for friction definition - see here).
