Air conditioning in the console of a boat

Hello, good afternoon everyone, I need your help. I want to simulate how an air conditioning unit works in a tanker’s engine room console. I was trying to simulate it but I can’t. I have the geometry and temperature values for the unit and the console. It’s for my thesis.

Hey cesaalexisnegr,

Thanks for posting on the forum!

This HVAC tutorial and Car Interior Tutorial would be the most representative of what you would like to do. I recommend you to do these tutorials first to get a good idea of how you would run a Convective and Conjugate Heat Transfer simulation respectively. You can then also make a better decision as to which simulation type you would prefer to use for your problem statement.

In general, the first step would be to create a flow region that represents the volume that can be occupied by the fluid, in your case, air. You can think of this as the inverse of the geometry itself. You can do this by Flow Volume Extraction.

Then assign the right boundary conditions (BC) to your simulation setup. You can also refer to the above tutorial to replicate the settings. The articles on Radiative Wall BC and Non-Radiative Wall BC should also be very useful!

Do let us know if you face any issues!

Best,
Satvik

Hello shenoy, I will try the steps you indicate, thank you.
