Introducing Advanced Features for Microclimate Modeling and Pedestrian Safety
SimScale makes cloud-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation accessible for architects and engineers to perform wind comfort and engineering analyses. With SimScale, designers can now benefit from additional features that will help them to more accurately model their designs and comply with microclimate guidelines and policies using two new features. The seasonal wind data tool will enable users to simulate alternative climate scenarios for comparative testing. The Gust Equivalent Mean feature will assist consultants to model more realistic wind conditions to better predict the impact of high winds on comfort and safety standards.
Both are features that are increasingly required to meet stringent policy and planning criteria. This live event will demonstrate the new features using an example from the City of London Wind Microclimate Guidelines.

“The SimScale platform has allowed us to develop and test scenarios including ventilation flow paths and understanding the dynamics between building fabric, airtightness, window natural ventilation design, and CO2 concentrations in various utilisation scenarios. The platform has given us quality, visually digestible output to inform decision-making and to compare results against our monitored data from our extensive post-occupancy studies. Working with SimScale has allowed us to study our learning spaces in a way we never have before. It has helped inform us on which design strategies may provide the biggest impact on performance. The visual outputs have real value, not just in terms of informing our decision-making, but potentially in communicating how classrooms can work and feel to clients and stakeholders.”
“When I started with SimScale, I knew from my previous experience how simulations are structured and work, but I had forgotten some details over the years. The great tutorials, documentation, and personal conversations with support have brought me up to date within 2 months of using SimScale. I am now well versed and use SimScale even with smaller problems to confirm my pre-calculations and to quickly compare design studies.”
SimScale is the world’s first production-ready SaaS application for simulation. By providing instant access to (CFD) and (FEA) to over 200,000 users, SimScale has moved high-fidelity physics simulation technology from a complex and cost-prohibitive desktop application to a user-friendly cloud application accessible via a subscription-based pricing model.
