CO2 cartridges state that they should not be heated in excess of 120F (49C), but are they actually safe at that temperature. What is the factor of safety. How much stress is exerted on the vessel at various temperatures as the CO2 liquid transforms to a supercritical fluid at 88F (31C). Can this information help the use of these seemingly innocuous devices. The goal is to determine the maximum allowable working pressure based on a partial liquid fill of a 16 gram CO2 assuming a FS of 1.2.
