Computational Fluid Dynamics is a branch of fluid mechanics that uses numerical analysis and data structures to analyze and solve problems that involve fluid flows. It can also produce quantitative predictions of fluid-flow phenomena with the help of computers and is also used to optimize heat transfer in everything from automobile engine designs to coffee machine designs. In aerospace, CFD is used for predicting the drag, lift, noise, structural and thermal loads, combustion, and performance in aircraft systems and subsystems.

This tutorial shows how an incompressible turbulent airflow around a Formula Student vehicle moving in a straight line can be simulated.

The project illustrates how to simulate airflow around a complex F1 vehicle. Incompressible flow simulation type is chosen to simulate the flow pattern around the vehicle.
