RC flying wing preliminary CFD investigation

Study where to install AC unit in order to provide best air circulation and cooling effect.

The aim is to verify that the strength and stiffness of the staircase is adequate.

This turbulent incompressible CFD simulation series' goal is to find the answer to the question: what is the ultimate paraglider harness type and what is the ideal sitting position.

The project's goal is to investigate different infill types' effect on 3D printed parts' strength.  Reducing infill percentage will significantly lower printing times as well as weight and material costs but what about strength and stress. Different infills may serve different purposes, there are many literature on the topic. 

A 30mm3 cube with full infill is the reference and different infill types with 50 and 25 percent infill ratio are compared with it. 

Static analysis is to be made. 1N tensile load is to be applied on the top plane while the other plane is fixed. Maximal stress and deflection values are to be checked.

Please note that as 3D printed parts are build of layers, the anisotropic behavior has significant impact on parts' performance as well as different parameters like printing material, temperature, perimeter shell number, just to name a few.

Aerodynamic ivestigation of paraglider canopy.

A bearing supported steel shaft is investigated in this static simulation.
The goal of the project is to check whether the welded discs' can bear the fatigue loads and whether the keyway's load is in the acceptable range.

A simple static analysis is used in this case because the shaft is static and slowly rotating during operation. Inertial loads can be neglected.

Details:

In this real life engineering task there is a steel shaft with two discs welded on it. There are arms connected to the discs (not visible) which provide torque loads. The shaft is supported by means of bearings. The rotation is provided by the means of gear motor which weight is loaded on the shaft and locks the remaining degree of freedom of the system.

The dimensions are constrained by the actual design and the main parameters (shaft main diameter, bearing type) have been pre-defined. Some hand made calculations were also done which take into account the effect of stress concentration. This calculations then need to be compared to the simulation results.

Critical points are the welded discs and the keyway.

The aim of this project is to find the correct coefficient of drag (cD) for a Helium filled party balloon of 0.8m diameter.
The simple sphere and the most common natural shape of balloons are investigated.
Steady state k-omega SST CFD simulation will be used for this purpose since it is the most commonly used type for external CFD simulations.
In order to find a correct value one has to provide a correct mesh for this setup. Later this will be discussed in the comment section below.

The eternal battle between normal harness and cocoon.

This challenge is about designing your own lightweight design along with amazing renderings. The objective function is to reduce the weight of the wing without exceeding the maximum allowable deflection (+y direction) of 1 meter!

The goal is to investigate the behavior of an one-hour-design 3D printed glider while it gets actually printed.

116 minutes remaining before the wing sections are printed. Fin and fuselage still needs to be manufactured.
Hopefully some useful information will be acquired from this steady state incompressible CFD simulation before the hardware is all ready.
What is the speed range this plane can operate. Will this plane actually fly or it will be just a demo piece.

The glider is designed by some rules of thumb.
