Viscous flow with CFD
About this project
If the fluid has very high viscosity, and the velocity and velocity gradients are low, the convective term in the Navier-Stokes equation can usually be neglected in front of the viscosity term. These flows are characterized by a very Low Reynolds number, and they are typically laminars. The dynamics equation (Navier-Stokes without inertial terms) are known as Stokes equations, and these flows as Stokes flows. They are also known sometimes as creepy flows. In the present practice, we will analyze an example of Stokes flow. It is an idealization of an oil reservoir underground, subjected to a high pressure from a surrounding gas bag. As in the previous session, the flow will be numerically analized with Simscale, and the results will be compared with the analytical estimate calculated in Appendix
