About this project

Araldite 2-component epoxy bond strength Analysis Components in assembly: 1. Pipe (16 bar max) PVC 2. Turbidity sensor cup PP 20mm diameter 3. Adhesive Lining (Araldite 420 A/B epoxy) TEST PLAN: Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) (Abnormal condition setting) 1. Tension on araldite adhesive layer (0.1mm thick) 2. Pressure on turbidity sensor Polypropylene (PP) cup (4 bar) 3. PVC pipe fixed support at lower end. Gravity not applied (Inconsequential here) Theoretical information on Araldite material used: Lap shear strength after various cure times at 23-degree Celsius (for 0.10mm thickness) 5 hours: 1 N/mm² 6 hours: 8 N/mm² 7 hours: 9 N/mm² (Source URL: https://www.spacematdb.com/spacemat/manudatasheets/araldite-420-tds-v1.pdf) The final result shows a maximum stress of 11 N/mm² (11MPa) on the PP turbidity sensor cup. Even less on the adhesive bond layer.
