About this project
Because of the high power density of electric motors, the selection and design of the cooling system has a big influence on the performance and efficiency of the electric motor in a Formula Student race car. Optimizing the cooling system can lead to a significant improvement in the overall performance. To prevent temperature build-up, a cooling plate can used to pull heat from the motor. The cooling water flows through channels in the plate acting like a heat exchanger. A heat transfer analysis can be done to analyze the temperature and heat flux distribution of the cooling plate.
