Error
Solver error: A continuity error has been encountered that cannot be removed.
What Happened?
The simulation stopped as the solver encountered an error in the continuity equation that is not removable.
What Could Be the Possible Reason?
There is a possible issue with the boundary condition setup as the inlet and outlet mass flow rates are not equal.
What Can I Do Now?
- Please check the boundary conditions for velocity and pressure at both the inlet and the outlet to ensure that the values are correct and properly set up.
- In most cases, it is recommended to use the standard boundary conditions with a ‘Velocity inlet‘ and a ‘Pressure outlet‘ boundary condition. Please visit our boundary condition documentation for details.
- In case you are using a Custom boundary condition, make sure to use a ‘Fixed value‘ for velocity and ‘Zero gradient‘ for pressure at the inlet and a ‘Fixed value‘ pressure and ‘Zero gradient‘ for velocity at the outlet.
In general, there are lots of combinations of boundary conditions that can lead to the continuity error. Thus, ensuring a perfect match of volumetric/mass flow rates at inlet and outlet or ensuring any type of fixed pressure boundary condition will take care of the continuity.
