Welcome! - Introduce yourself :)

Welcome on board DonVic!

That looks like a very nice portfolio right there! If you have any interest in using SimScale for your classes, feel free to get in touch with my via DM and I will get back to you as soon as possible! I am sure your students would love to get in touch with cloud-based simulation technology

All the best and happy SimScaling!

Hi @jousefm, thank you for the welcome message. I am happy to be on board here. It has been an awesome few days on Simscale. I want to ask though, can it handle composite materials like material layups and orientations? Thanks.

Hi!

My name is Sophia and I’m looking forward to getting familiar with SimScale. I am a student working on building the first liquid-fueled rocket to be sent to space by an all-high-school team, an initiative called Project Caelus. I am trying SimScale out to simulate fluid flow through our rocket engine, specifically through our injector. I have tried other simulators before, but they weren’t as user-friendly as SimScale. I appreciate the forum and easy-to-follow tutorials!

Yay! Nice to have you on board Sophia

Sounds super interesting! You are not sponsored by SimScale yet, are you? If not, please send me an email to jmurad@simscale.com and I will send you all the sponsorship details :+1:

Looking forward working with you!

@jousefm Thank you for the welcome on the Simscale Community here. With respect to your suggestion earlier, based on the Feature Request, I do have two (2) requests to have: Multiphase Modelling of offshore structures. This can include offshore platforms, marine risers, pipelaying modelling. :sunglasses: Also, there is also need for Composite Materials Modelling using Simscale. Such as the material layups and orientation of the materials.

I noticed it is missing and am interested in getting involved with that project here too, as I have also been experienced on that too. However, will be nice to include that in the Simscale Community. Thank you

Regards,

Hello
I am a student pursuing masters in Architecture. Presently, I am working on Thesis which is basically reacting to the present COVID 19 situation- Future after CORONA. Since my approach is about drawing an intersection of health into urban planning, flow of air plays a major role. It would be really helpful to find a way to get wind analysis through your approach since I have no experience with coding.
Any suggestions would be of great help.
I have applied for academic plan. How long would it take to get the plan and does this plan work with my requirement. To my understanding pedestrian comfort and In-compressible (LBM) should do the trick.
A small bug report. When I choose to update to pro during selection of simulation it is not directing to a new page or reacting. How much would these plan cost ?

Hallo. I am working at Vaxholm Komposit as a engineer and designer of sailing multihulls and high speed powerboats. I am working in Rhino and Orca3D. I am looking for a CFD tool to investigate different hull shapes for slender multihulls and fast planing hulls for powerboats (100+knots).
Orca3d have a CFD option based on Simerics CDF tool. It is adjusted for Marin purpose and does not require advaced skills in CFD. The problem is that I dont design boats on a regular basis therfore it is quit expencive to use Orca CFD.
The benefit with Simscale is the possibility to start simulating in the public forum and the go to the proffesional version for comersial projects. My consern is that I cant find any tutorials or webinars for Marin projects in two mediums with a free surface. I am also conserned about the quality of the public prodjects, are the published simulations quality checked?
Best regards Stefan Törnblom.

Hi @torna and thanks for your introduction!

Interesting applications you are working on! Not every public project is checked from the staff but you can be sure that all projects that are documented (which is in some sense a quality proof from the staff - you also have to look who created the project) are good to use and some of them are also validated.

If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me via dm or email at jmurad@simscale.com - stay safe and happy SimScaling!

Hi Pawel,
My name is Richard and I am very new to CFD, but have been doing physical modeling using fluid dynamic modeling. I also apply my physical modeling to the steel manufacturing industry. I have an extensive background in testing, simulating actual air movement within a steel meltshop. I am looking to apply my knowledge to simple CFD simulations of conditions.

thanks for your time,
richard

Hello.

My name is Rob and I’m interested in simulating some ideas I have involving the Magnus and Coanda effects. I am also interested in concepts related to hovercraft technology. I’m very new to CFD so it will take me awhile to know what I’m doing. Thanks for making Simscale available for community users!

Hello @Robert01,

welcome, good to have you here!
Fortunately, there are vast amount of resources online. Based on your preferred learning style, you can start by the tutorials under the “Help” menu, the Youtube channel of Simscale, or by tweaking public projects and see how they are set,
Enjoy your time learning CFD, and feel free to ask your questions via the forum!

Best regards,

Hello,

I am a mechanical engineer from Lebanon. I am interested in the assessment of thermal comfort in auditoriums and lecture rooms and that what brought me to Simscale. I am currently working on a small auditorium in Lebanon. I run the simulation but its giving me errors. I hope that I can find some assistance in the forum to solve this problem.
I have done 6 runs but the error persists; Gauge pressure field started diverging. Please check the mesh quality near the reported location and try refining the mesh. If the problem occured near a boundary, please check the boundary conditions.
I appreciate your technical support.

Best Regards,

I’m Tony from Ireland. I’m an engineering consultant with 35 years of product and process engineering and other adventures behind me. For CAD work I use PTC’s Creo, and in the past I did a great deal of structural analysis with Creo Simulate, a very wieldy P-element code. I do a bit of multiphysics work also with COMSOL, but the cumulative and rising cost of what are pretty mature codes, and our occasional pattern of use, is a problem for our little business. We are looking at Fusion 360.
I have occasional need for structural nonlinear analysis and its time to look for something new. I hope Simscale can do that, though I have some concerns about productivity issues with nonlinear contacting multi-part assemblies, based on what I’ve seen. The CFD (OpenFOAM-based) end of things looks a bit friendlier than COMSOL so we shall see.
I mostly do medical device and precision optics work but am pretty flexible. In my own time, I like working on flexure-based mechanisms, thermo-fluidic and optical instruments, and performing patent landscaping studies. I have a large but buggy delta 3D printer and lots of astronomical telescopes to keep me amused.
