  • SimScale’s Mission

Our Mission — Why Do We Exist?

The world around us is shaped by engineers designing and crafting products. Nearly everything in them depends on a designer or engineer having done their job well: the cities and buildings we live in, the air we breathe, the food and water we consume, the healthcare and mobility options we have, the devices we use, and the energy we need to power them. The quality of our lives depends on engineers being able to craft innovative and high-performing products quickly. Even more so, our future depends on it since mitigating the climate crisis will require an enormous amount of engineering innovation in a short time period.

Despite this, today’s engineers working on physical products aren’t nearly as empowered by their tool stack as software engineers. We’re here to change this. We’re here to support them with better tools and take pride in having the privilege to contribute our small part to faster innovation of physical products. We’re here to reimagine the product design process. We exist to empower every engineer to innovate faster by making engineering simulation truly accessible at any scale.

What Excites Our Team Members About SimScale’s Mission?

    Nur (Product Management Working Student)

When SimScale was first founded in 2012, our founders were driven by the ambition to democratize simulation! Not only available to experts in large companies, we provide a user-friendly web application that can be accessed by any designer and engineer in the world. We put our tool in the hands of engineers who are making a difference. We contribute towards things like innovative building designs in cities all across the globe, making airplanes more efficient for travel, helping electric vehicles be more eco-friendly, and even optimizing major waterworks facilities for alternative power sources. We strive for a future that enables engineers from all across the globe to easily simulate their dream projects!

At SimScale, we consider our users’ problems as our own. We develop and verify product features by asking ourselves “Does this help our users obtain reliable solutions to their problems faster and in a more cost-effective manner?” If not, we go back to the drawing board to brainstorm more. Being part of a team that is constantly striving to build better simulation technologies, with the ultimate goal of making simulation accessible to every engineer, is definitely exciting as well as intellectually challenging. It is also very enriching to interact with engineers from different disciplines and humbling to know that I am playing a small role in helping them solve their specific problems.

Seeing engineers being able to ship better products faster by leveraging simulation technology that was previously technically and/or economically out of reach is exciting, rewarding, and humbling at the same time.

The Importance of A Company Mission

Having a clear mission is an essential step toward helping a company focus on its goals and the future. Not only for the company but also for every single employee. A mission statement can be guidance and orientation on how to solve certain problems and act in specific situations.  A mission statement defines and names the aspects that make up a brand and is a central part of the company and thus contributes to branding. At SimScale, our mission statement serves as a guideline and action orientation for all employees. Our mission statement ensures that the actions of our team members are not perceived as individual actions, but rather represent the entire company and our purpose. The mission statement, together with our vision, also helps us to integrate new employees.

“Every person above the ordinary has a certain mission that they are called to fulfill.”

    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
