In response to the queries from our users who didn’t get a chance to participate in the last F1 workshop, we have decided to offer another F1 workshop series focused on aerodynamics.
Join the free three-week online workshop series from SimScale to learn about the simulation, design, and testing of a Formula One race car!
Participants will get an overview of all the functionalities offered by the SimScale platform while learning directly from top simulation experts through an interactive workshop and practical application of the simulation technology.
Thanks to SimScale’s collaboration with FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS, workshop participants will be able to use their product CAESES to modify the existing design with a few clicks and improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the car.
This workshop will consist of a series of three one-hour sessions. The overall aim is to conceptualize an F1 car design, which will be virtually tested with the help of simulation technology. The live online sessions will take place on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. Central European Time, with the first session, starting on March 17th.
Why Join the F1 Aerodynamics Workshop?
There is no prior knowledge or software required to join this free workshop series. All participants will get free access to SimScale, which includes all the required simulation features.
- Learn about the fundamentals of the aerodynamics of a race car design
- Attend three webinar sessions and submit optional homework assignments
- Earn a certificate of completion by submitting 50% of the homework
- Receive SimScale Professional Training (value of €500) if you successfully complete all three simulation homework assignments
Schedule of the SimScale F1 Aerodynamics Workshop
Session 1 – 03/17/2016: FRONT WING DESIGN
Session 2 – 03/24/2016: REAR WING DESIGN
During the second session, we will expand the knowledge gained from the first session and apply it to the design and optimization of a rear wing. In addition, we will discuss general rear wing design trends and investigate different design approaches.
Session 3 – 03/31/2016: PARAMETRIC DESIGN OPTIMIZATION
The final session covers parametric design optimization and how it is used in race car design. This session looks at the general development process in F1 and the role of simulation. Finally, we will show you how to optimize the shape of the car using a parametric design approach.
SimScale’s CEO David Heiny tests the capabilities of the platform to solve a real-life engineering problem. Fill in the form to watch this free webinar and learn more!
