7:15 – 8:15 am – I usually get up around 7:15 am in the morning as I like to have an extra hour before I start my working day where I can sit down, relax, drink a coffee, eat breakfast, and simply enjoy my morning.
8:30 – 9:30 am – During this first hour of work, I usually check if there are any bugs, irregularities, and actions needed on the SimScale platform.
9:30 – 1:45 pm – The first half of the day are my “offline hours” which means they are reserved for developing new features and allow me to work focused without too many interruptions.
1:45 – 2:00 pm – These 15 minutes of the day are always reserved for our daily SimTeam scrum. We keep it fairly short but it allows every member of the team to go through his or her tasks, talk about what went well and what is problematic. It’s great for getting fresh ideas from others and answering questions together!
2:00 – 3:00 pm – At this time on Wednesdays, all Developers, as well as team members from the Product team, meet with the Application Engineers in order to get customer insights, talk about specific cases or potential problems on the platform, and work together to find solutions.
3:00 – 4:00 pm – I typically take my lunch break at 2 pm, directly after our scrum, but since we had our meeting with the Application Engineers, it’s a little later today. I usually cook something, have my second (and also last) cup of coffee of the day, and if the weather is nice, I really enjoy sitting on my balcony, reading a book, or checking my social media. This time of the day is usually “time for myself”.
To sum it up, the first half of my working day is usually more focused on code development, whereas the second half of the day is more interactive with meetings.
4:00 – 5:00 pm – During this hour, I prepare for any late afternoon meetings and finish up the remaining tasks from the morning. If something is urgent, I jump on ad-hoc tasks, work on improvements and optimizations, or I continue with code development.
5:00 – 6:00 pm – Today, my day ends a bit later as we have an external meeting with a company partner to discuss an implementation of a service that is in progress and will be available soon.
Later in the evening, I finish my day by improving my drawing skills and also taking part in online dancing activities with my husband.
