Fillia, who is based in Greece, is one of SimScale’s Customer Support Agents and has been part of the team since February 2020. In this installment of “Day in the Life” find out what her typical working day looks like and be inspired by the beautiful snapshots from her routine!
08:00 – 09:30: As an independent contractor based in Loutraki, Greece, my working day starts at 10:00 am EEST. Before that, it is important to add some movement into my routine, so I will either have an early morning gym class or a walk by the sea.
09:30 – 10:00: With half an hour left until my working hours begin, I check my emails and my schedule for the day, and prepare my workspace.
10:00 – 11:00: In the first hour I mostly manage new support requests that arrive while the team is offline. This usually takes some extra time on Mondays, as the requests from the whole weekend await in the inbox. After I reply to all new requests that arrive via the chatbox, I check for new posts on our forum page.
11:00 – 12:00: This is a time dedicated to catching up on previous chat conversations and forum posts. We are always striving to keep the forum as an active space with insightful conversations between SimScale users, therefore moderating and monitoring threads is necessary.
12:00 – 13:30: Throughout the day, support requests keep arriving, however in the afternoon I shift my focus to working on documentation tasks. As the platform evolves, so should our knowledge base, validation cases, and tutorials.
13:30 – 14:00: During my lunch hour I get the opportunity to relax and take a break from the screen. This is also usually the time I water my plants, including the Nasturtium seeds I received from our SimCare team.
14:00 – 16:00: In the afternoon hours I continue to balance documentation with replying to incoming support requests. This is also the point where I prepare for any afternoon meetings I might have later.
Depending on the day, it is common that I will join a meeting after my working hours. Sometimes these are technical or company meetings, or a scrum meeting for me and my fellow team members who are located in South America — a morning meeting for them! Even if contractors work remotely, regardless of the pandemic, it is always nice to check in on our colleagues and learn about their day!
In case I did not exercise or leave the house before work, I will definitely make sure to get some fresh air and stretch afterward. My favorite activities are Kangoo jumps class, heading to the beach for a quick swim, and, of course, spending time with my friends and family, plus a cold beer!
Thank you, Fillia!
